About Work Hours Calculator

The Work Hours Calculator turns a clock-in time, clock-out time, and unpaid break into your total worked hours and minutes. Toggle overnight shift when you clock out the next day, add an hourly rate to see estimated gross pay, and read everything at a glance in a clean stat grid.

It is completely free and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, saved, or sent to a server, so your hours and pay stay private on your own device. Use it as often as you like with no signup.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Work Hours Calculator free to use?
Yes, it is 100% free with no signup, account, or usage limits. Enter your times as often as you like.
Is my data uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. All calculations happen locally in your browser. Your clock times, break, hourly rate, and pay are never uploaded, tracked, or saved to any server.
How do I calculate hours for an overnight shift?
Turn on the 'Overnight shift' checkbox. The calculator then treats the clock-out time as the next day and adds 24 hours to the span before subtracting your break.
How is the unpaid break handled?
The break, entered in minutes, is subtracted from the shift span so only paid time is counted. If the break is as long as or longer than the shift, the tool shows a helpful error instead of a negative result.
How is gross pay calculated?
Gross pay equals your total paid time in decimal hours multiplied by the hourly rate you enter. For example, 8.00 hours at $20.00 is $160.00. The hourly rate is optional; leave it blank to see hours only.
What are decimal hours versus hours and minutes?
Decimal hours express your worked time as a single number for payroll math (for example, 8h 30m is 8.50 hours). The tool shows both the hours-and-minutes format and the decimal value.
