About Estimate Template
The Estimate Template tool is a free job-estimate builder for contractors, freelancers, and small businesses. Enter your business and client details, an estimate number, date, and valid-until date, then add dynamic line items with descriptions, quantities, and unit prices. It calculates subtotal, optional tax, and total automatically as you type.
The result is a clean, printable estimate you can print or save as a PDF straight from your browser. There are no accounts, sign-ups, or software to install. Everything runs entirely on your device, so your pricing and client information stay completely private.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this estimate template free to use?
- Yes, it is completely free with no sign-up, account, or subscription required. You can create and print as many job estimates as you want at no cost.
- Is my data uploaded or stored anywhere?
- No. The tool runs entirely in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to a server or saved anywhere. Your business details, client information, and prices never leave your device.
- How do I save my estimate as a PDF?
- Click the Print / Save as PDF button, then in your browser's print dialog choose 'Save as PDF' as the destination. Only the estimate sheet is printed, without the input form or page navigation.
- What's the difference between an estimate and an invoice?
- An estimate is a projected quote for work before it begins, usually with a valid-until date, while an invoice is a request for payment after work is done. Use this tool for quoting jobs and proposals; use an invoice tool to bill for completed work.
- Can I add my own tax rate and line items?
- Yes. You can add or remove as many line items as you need, each with a description, quantity, and unit price, and enter any tax percentage. The subtotal, tax, and total update automatically.
- Does the estimate include a valid-until date?
- Yes. You can set both the estimate date and a valid-until date, which defaults to 30 days out. This makes it clear to your client how long the quoted prices are guaranteed.
