About AVIF to JPG Converter

AVIF is a modern, highly compressed image format, but plenty of apps, older devices, and websites still can't open it. This tool converts AVIF files into universally supported JPG images right inside your browser. Drop in one file or many, and each is decoded and re-encoded as a JPEG using your browser's built-in image support and the HTML canvas.

You control the output: a quality slider (30–100) trades file size against sharpness, and a background color picker fills any transparent areas — JPG has no alpha channel, so see-through pixels would otherwise turn black. When you convert several images at once, you can download them individually or grab everything as a single ZIP.

Everything happens locally. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so the tool works offline and keeps private photos private. One limitation to know: reading AVIF relies on your browser's decoder. Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari support it, but a very old browser may fail to decode the file — in that case the tool tells you rather than producing a broken image.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an AVIF file to JPG?
Drag your AVIF file onto the drop zone (or click to browse and select it), then click Download JPG. You can adjust the quality and background color first if you like.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser using the canvas API. Your files never leave your device, which also means the tool works offline once loaded.
Can I convert many AVIF files at once?
Yes. Select or drop multiple files and each is converted to JPG. You can download them one by one or download all of them together as a single ZIP archive.
Why does the tool ask for a background color?
JPG cannot store transparency. If your AVIF has transparent areas, they are filled with the background color you choose (white by default) so they don't appear as black in the JPG.
What quality setting should I use?
92 is a good default for photos — visually near-lossless with a reasonable file size. Lower it toward 30 for smaller files when some softening is acceptable, or raise it to 100 for maximum fidelity.
My AVIF won't convert — what's wrong?
Reading AVIF depends on your browser's decoder. Make sure you're on a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. If a file is corrupt or not actually AVIF, the tool will skip it and tell you.
