The flooring calculator works out how much flooring you need for any room. It instantly shows your floor area, the area including waste for cuts and offcuts, and the exact number of boxes to buy.

- Is my data uploaded or stored anywhere?
- No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and every calculation happens on your own device. Nothing you enter is sent to a server, uploaded, or saved, so your measurements stay completely private.
- How do I calculate how many boxes of flooring I need?
- Enter your room length and width, pick a waste percentage, and type the coverage per box (the area one box covers, listed on the packaging). Boxes needed = area including waste ÷ coverage per box, always rounded up to a whole box.
- How much waste percentage should I add for flooring?
- A 10% waste allowance is standard for straight-lay flooring to cover cuts, offcuts, and mistakes. For diagonal, herringbone, or complex layouts, or rooms with lots of angles, use 15–20%. It's also smart to keep one spare box for future repairs.
- Can I use feet or meters?
- Both. Choose feet or meters from the unit selector and enter your room dimensions in that unit. Make sure the coverage per box is in the matching area unit (square feet or square meters) so the box count is accurate.
- Does it work for tile, laminate, hardwood, and vinyl flooring?
- Yes. The math is the same for any boxed flooring — tile, laminate, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, and more. Just use the coverage-per-box figure printed on your specific product's packaging.
