About Minesweeper
Minesweeper is the classic mine-hunting puzzle you can play right in your browser. Choose Beginner or Intermediate, then left-click to reveal cells and right-click (or Flag Mode) to mark suspected mines. Numbers show how many mines touch each cell, and your very first click is always safe.
It is completely free with no sign-up, no ads, and no downloads. Everything runs entirely in your browser, so the game board, your clicks, and your timer never leave your device or get sent to any server.

- Is my data uploaded anywhere?
- No. The entire game runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your moves, timer, and board state stay on your device and are never sent to any server.
- How do I play Minesweeper?
- Left-click (or tap) a cell to reveal it. If it shows a number, that many mines touch it. Use those numbers to deduce safe cells, and flag the cells you think are mines. Clear every non-mine cell to win.
- How do I place a flag?
- Right-click a cell to toggle a flag on desktop. On touch devices, turn on the Flag Mode button, then tapping a cell places or removes a flag instead of revealing it.
- Is the first click always safe?
- Yes. Mines are only generated after your first click, and they are placed away from that cell (and usually its neighbors), so your opening move can never hit a mine.
- What difficulty levels are available?
- You can choose Beginner, a 9x9 board with 10 mines, or Intermediate, a 16x16 board with 40 mines. Switching difficulty starts a fresh game.
- What do the colored numbers mean?
- Each number tells you how many mines are adjacent to that cell, counting all eight surrounding cells. The colors (1 blue, 2 green, 3 red, and so on) are the classic Minesweeper color code to help you read the board quickly.
