About Random Turn Order
Random Turn Order shuffles a list of names into a fair, random sequence and shows the full running order from first to last. Paste one name per line and press Shuffle order to get a numbered list — 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on — so everyone knows exactly when their turn comes. Unlike a picker that names a single winner, this lays out the complete order for the whole group. Re-shuffle any time, and copy the finished order with one click.
It is completely free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser. Your names are never uploaded or stored — the shuffle happens locally on your device using a cryptographic random generator so every possible order is equally likely.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the Random Turn Order tool free?
- Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, account, or payment. Shuffle as often as you like.
- How is this different from a random picker?
- A picker chooses one name at random. This tool arranges everyone into a full sequence, showing who goes first, second, third, and so on all the way to the last person.
- Are the names kept private?
- Yes. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your names are never sent to a server or saved anywhere, and they disappear when you close the tab.
- Is the order truly random and fair?
- Yes. It uses your browser's built-in cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) with a Fisher-Yates shuffle, so every possible ordering is equally likely with no bias.
- Can I reshuffle if I do not like the order?
- Yes. Press Re-shuffle order any time to generate a brand-new random sequence from the same list of names.
- How do I share the turn order with everyone?
- Press Copy order to copy the full numbered list to your clipboard, then paste it into a chat, message, or anywhere your group can see it.
