The Markup Calculator turns cost into pricing in two ways. Pick a mode: enter a cost and a markup percentage to get the sale price, or enter a cost and a sale price to get the markup percentage. Either way it shows your profit and profit margin alongside the main result, so you can price products with confidence.
It is completely free with no sign-up, no limits, and no ads to click through. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is ever sent to a server or stored anywhere. Divide-by-zero cases are handled cleanly, so you never see an error or a broken number.

- Is my data uploaded or stored anywhere?
- No. Every calculation happens locally in your browser. The cost, markup, and price figures you enter are never sent to a server, logged, or saved.
- What is the difference between markup and margin?
- Markup is profit expressed as a percentage of the cost, while margin is profit expressed as a percentage of the sale price. For the same product, the markup percentage is always higher than the margin percentage. This tool shows both so you can compare them at a glance.
- How is the sale price calculated from a markup percentage?
- Sale price equals cost plus (cost times markup percentage). For example, a $40 cost with a 50% markup gives a $20 profit and a $60 sale price, which works out to a 33.33% margin.
- How do I find the markup percentage if I already know the price?
- Choose the second mode and enter your cost and sale price. The calculator returns the markup percentage using (sale price minus cost) divided by cost, plus the profit and margin.
- What happens if I enter a cost or sale price of zero?
- The tool guards against divide-by-zero. If a value would require dividing by zero (such as markup with a zero cost, or margin with a zero sale price), it shows a dash and a short note instead of an error or NaN.
