About Grade Calculator
The Grade Calculator does two jobs in one place. Switch modes to find your weighted average across assignments, quizzes, and exams, or to work out exactly what score you need on a final exam to hit the overall grade you want. It updates live as you type and flags when weights don't add up to 100%.
It's completely free with no sign-up, and everything runs entirely in your browser. Your grades and scores are never uploaded or stored on a server, so you can crunch the numbers privately from any device.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I calculate my weighted grade?
- Pick the weighted-average mode, then add a row for each assignment with its score as a percent and its weight as a percent. The tool multiplies each score by its weight, adds them up, and divides by the total weight. If your weights don't sum to 100%, it normalizes by the total you entered and shows a note.
- What grade do I need on my final exam?
- Choose the "grade needed on final" mode and enter your current grade, how much the final is worth as a percent, and the overall grade you're aiming for. The tool shows the exact score you need. It also tells you if the target is already secured (a very low or negative number) or impossible with the final alone (above 100%).
- Do my weights have to add up to 100%?
- No. If they don't total 100%, the calculator still gives a correct weighted average by dividing by the sum of the weights you entered, and it shows a note so you know the total. That's handy when you only want to average part of your coursework.
- Is the Grade Calculator free?
- Yes, it's completely free to use with no account, sign-up, or limits. Use it as often as you like.
- Is my data uploaded or stored anywhere?
- No. All calculations happen locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your scores, weights, and grades never leave your device and nothing is sent to or saved on a server.
- Can I use it for a class where I only know some of my grades?
- Yes. In weighted-average mode you can leave out or remove assignments you haven't received yet, and the tool averages only the rows you've filled in. In final-grade mode you just need your current overall grade, the final's weight, and your target.
