- What temperature is a fan oven compared with a conventional one?
- Fan (convection) ovens circulate hot air, so set them about 20 °C (25 °F) lower than a conventional oven for the same result. The fan column in the tool already does this for you.
- What is 350 °F in Celsius?
- 350 °F is 180 °C, which is gas mark 4 and a moderate oven.
- Why isn't my gas mark to Celsius conversion exact?
- Gas marks map to a range rather than a precise temperature, and recipe sources round them slightly differently (gas 4 is given as 177 °C or 180 °C). The tool uses the common rounded values.
- What counts as a moderate or hot oven?
- Moderate is around 180 °C / 350 °F / gas 4; hot is around 220 °C / 425 °F / gas 7. The chart lists the heat description for every setting.
