About Voice Recorder
This voice recorder captures audio straight from your device's microphone using your browser's built-in MediaRecorder API. Press Start, allow microphone access, and it records with echo cancellation and noise suppression turned on. A live waveform and running timer show that it's picking up sound, and you can pause and resume as many times as you need before stopping.
When you stop, the recording appears as a standard audio player so you can listen back immediately, along with its length, file size and format. Download it to your device with one click, discard it, or record another take. Everything - recording, playback and download - happens locally on your machine; no audio is ever sent to a server, there's no account, and nothing is stored after you leave the page.
Recordings are saved in whatever native audio format your browser uses for recording, which is usually WebM/Opus on Chrome, Edge and Firefox, or M4A on Safari. These files play in most modern players. If you specifically need MP3 or WAV, run the downloaded file through a separate audio converter, since real-time MP3 encoding isn't something browsers do natively.

- No. The recorder uses your browser's local MediaRecorder API. Audio is captured, played back and downloaded entirely on your own device, and nothing is sent to a server or saved once you close the page.
- Why does it ask for microphone permission?
- Recording requires access to your microphone, so the browser shows a permission prompt the first time. If you block it by accident, click the padlock or camera icon in the address bar to re-enable the mic, then press Start again.
- What file format is the recording?
- It saves in your browser's native recording format - typically WebM with the Opus codec on Chrome, Edge and Firefox, or M4A on Safari. Both play in most modern media players. For MP3 or WAV, convert the file afterward with an audio converter.
- Can I pause and continue a recording?
- Yes. While recording, press Pause to hold, then Resume to keep going in the same clip. The timer freezes while paused and the final file is one continuous recording.
- Is there a time or length limit?
- There's no fixed limit set by the tool. Longer recordings simply use more memory, so very long sessions depend on your device's available RAM. For most voice notes, meetings or memos this is not an issue.
- Does it work on my phone?
- Yes, on modern mobile browsers that support microphone access and MediaRecorder, including Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS. The page must be served over HTTPS for the microphone to work.
