About Compress Video
Compress Video shrinks the file size of a video right in your browser, so it is small enough to email, upload or send in a chat. Choose how hard to compress, then download a smaller MP4 in a click — no account, no watermark, and nothing is uploaded.
It runs an in-browser build of ffmpeg and re-encodes with H.264, so the result plays anywhere. Compression is lossy, so a stronger setting trades a little quality for a much smaller file.

- Why does the first run take a moment?
- The first time, it downloads a ~32 MB processing engine. That is cached afterwards, so later runs start instantly.
- Will compressing reduce the quality?
- Some, yes — video compression is lossy. The default is tuned to be hard to notice on everyday clips; choose "Higher quality" if you want to keep more detail.
