About Barcode Generator

Barcode Generator turns any value into a scannable barcode right in your browser. Type your text or number, choose a symbology, and download a clean PNG in seconds. It supports the formats most people actually need: CODE128 for general text and numbers, EAN-13 and UPC-A for retail products, CODE39 for asset and inventory tags, and ITF-14 for shipping cartons.

If you're not sure which type to use, CODE128 is the safe default — it encodes almost any string. For products headed to a store shelf, UPC-A and EAN-13 are the ones cash registers expect, and the tool checks your input length so you catch a bad value before you print it. Each barcode is drawn with true black bars on a white background at a scannable resolution, so it holds up whether you print it on a label or drop it into a document.

Need more than one? Switch to Bulk mode, paste a whole list of values (one per line, with an optional caption after a comma), and generate the entire batch at once — then download every barcode as a ZIP of PNGs or open a printable label sheet, which is what makes it a genuine bulk barcode generator for inventory, SKUs, and asset tags. For a single code you can export a pixel-perfect PNG or a vector SVG that stays sharp at any print size, from a small label to large signage.

This is a free barcode generator with no account, no watermark, and no per-day limit — a straightforward alternative if you've been bouncing between paid or sign-up-gated tools. It creates linear (1D) barcodes; if you actually need a 2D QR code, that's a different format handled by our QR code generator.

Everything happens locally on your device. The value you type is never uploaded to a server, which matters when your barcodes carry SKUs, order numbers, or anything you'd rather not send off. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.

Frequently asked questions

Is the barcode generator free?
Yes — completely free with no sign-up, no watermark, and no limits. You can generate and download as many barcodes as you need.
Does this also make QR codes?
This tool creates linear (1D) barcodes like CODE128, EAN and UPC. QR codes are a different 2D format, so use our separate QR code generator for those.
How do I create a UPC barcode?
Pick UPC-A as the type and enter an 11 or 12-digit product number. The tool renders it in the standard retail format that store scanners and point-of-sale systems expect.
Can I generate many barcodes at once?
Yes. Switch to Bulk mode and paste one value per line — you can add a caption after a comma, for example SKU-1001,Blue Widget. The tool generates the whole batch (up to 250), skips any invalid values, and lets you download them all as a ZIP of PNGs or open a printable label sheet you can print or save as a PDF.
Can I download a vector (SVG) barcode?
Yes. In Single mode you can download either a PNG or a vector SVG. SVG stays perfectly crisp at any size — ideal for print, packaging, or large signage — and it drops cleanly into design tools like Illustrator or InDesign.
Which barcode type should I pick?
CODE128 handles almost any text or number and is the safest default. Use EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products, CODE39 for asset tags, and ITF-14 for shipping cartons.
Why does it say my value is invalid?
Some types require a specific format — for example EAN-13 needs 12–13 digits and UPC-A needs 11–12 digits. Switch to CODE128, or match the required length.
Will the barcode actually scan?
Yes. It's drawn on a white background with true black bars at a scannable resolution, and downloads as a clean PNG you can print or place anywhere.
How is this different from TEC-IT or other online barcode generators?
It covers the same common symbologies but runs entirely in your browser with no sign-up, no watermark, and no upload. That makes it faster for quick one-off barcodes and keeps your values private.
Can I use this instead of Canva's barcode generator?
Yes. This generates a plain PNG barcode you can then drop into Canva, Word, a label template, or any design tool — without needing a Canva account or app to make the code itself.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Barcodes are generated locally in your browser; nothing you type is sent to a server, so SKUs and order numbers stay on your device.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes — it works in any modern browser on phone, tablet, or desktop, with no app to install.
What file format do I get?
You download a crisp PNG image with a transparent-free white background, ready to print on a label or paste into a document or spreadsheet.
