About the svg / vector
The reason print and design work demand a vector barcode comes down to how a barcode actually stores data: not in the black marks themselves, but in the precise widths of the bars and the spaces between them. A scanner reads the ratio of narrow to wide modules, and the narrowest unit — the X-dimension — has to stay geometrically exact for the decode to succeed.
