About Cash Flow Calculator

This cash flow calculator adds up your monthly income and expenses to show your net cash flow โ€” the surplus you keep or the shortfall you burn each month. Add as many income sources and expense lines as you need, set a starting cash balance, and it projects your balance month by month for up to 120 months.

Beyond the single-month number, it estimates your cash runway: the first month your balance would go below zero if the same income and expenses repeat. That makes it useful for founders, freelancers, and small businesses checking how long their cash lasts at the current burn rate.

It is a straightforward planning model, not accounting software. It assumes the same figures repeat every month and does not account for the timing of individual payments, taxes, one-off items, or interest. Everything runs privately in your browser โ€” nothing you type is uploaded or saved anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

How is net cash flow calculated?
Net monthly cash flow is total cash in minus total cash out. The calculator sums every income row and subtracts the sum of every expense row. A positive result is a monthly surplus; a negative result is a shortfall you are drawing down from your starting balance.
What does the cash runway number mean?
Runway is the first month your projected balance would fall below zero, assuming the same income and expenses repeat every month. If your cash flow is positive your balance grows and never runs out, so runway shows as unlimited.
How accurate is this calculator?
The math is exact for the assumptions it uses, but those assumptions are deliberately simple: it repeats the same monthly figures and ignores payment timing, taxes, seasonality, one-off costs, and interest. Treat it as a quick planning estimate, not a substitute for a full cash flow statement or accounting software.
Is my financial data private?
Yes. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your income, expenses, and balances are never sent to a server, uploaded, or stored โ€” closing the tab clears everything.
Can I add more than the default income and expense lines?
Yes. Use the Add income and Add expense buttons to add as many rows as you need, each with its own label and monthly amount, and remove any row you do not need.
How many months can I project?
You can project any number of months from 1 up to 120 (ten years). The month-by-month table shows the opening balance, net flow, and closing balance for each month in that range.
