About YouTube Thumbnail Downloader

Paste any YouTube link or an 11-character video ID and this tool instantly pulls the video's thumbnail images in every available resolution — Max, Standard, High, and Medium. It recognises watch, youtu.be, shorts, and embed URLs, shows a live preview of each size, and gives you a direct download link for the one you want.

It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks, and no limits. The thumbnails are public YouTube images loaded straight into your browser, so nothing you type is ever uploaded to a server — the whole tool runs entirely on your own device.

Frequently asked questions

Is this YouTube thumbnail downloader free?
Yes, it is completely free with no account, no sign-up, and no usage limits. You can grab as many thumbnails as you like.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
We don't upload or store anything. One thing worth knowing though: the thumbnails are loaded straight from Google's servers, so the video ID you paste is sent to Google and Google can see your IP address, exactly as it would if you opened the video. Nothing is sent to us.
What YouTube link formats are supported?
It handles standard watch links (youtube.com/watch?v=ID), short youtu.be/ID links, Shorts (youtube.com/shorts/ID), embed links (/embed/ID), and a bare 11-character video ID.
What thumbnail resolutions can I download?
Four sizes: Max (maxresdefault, 1280x720), Standard (sddefault, 640x480), High (hqdefault, 480x360), and Medium (mqdefault, 320x180).
Why is the Max resolution thumbnail blank or missing?
The maxresdefault image only exists for videos that were uploaded in HD. If it shows as blank or grey, that video never had a high-resolution thumbnail generated, so choose a smaller size instead.
How do I save the thumbnail if it just opens in a new tab?
Some browsers preview the image instead of downloading it. If that happens, right-click the opened image and choose "Save image as" to store it on your device.
