- How does the 'preserve line breaks for Instagram' toggle work?
- Instagram collapses the empty lines between paragraphs when you paste a caption. With the toggle on, each blank line is filled with a single invisible character (Braille Pattern Blank), which keeps the line 'non-empty' so your paragraph spacing survives when you paste it into the app.
- How are characters and hashtags counted?
- Characters are counted with correct emoji handling, so an emoji counts as one character. Hashtags are counted the way Instagram does — a '#' at the start or after a space followed by letters, numbers, or underscores. For reference, Instagram allows up to 2,200 characters and counts the first 30 hashtags.
- What do the 'Add bullet points' and 'Clear formatting' buttons do?
- 'Add bullet points' turns every non-empty line into a bulleted list item without doubling up existing bullets. 'Clear formatting' removes bullets and any invisible spacer characters and returns your caption to clean plain text.
- Does the formatted caption work on TikTok, Facebook, and other apps?
- Yes. The invisible spacer and bullet characters are standard Unicode, so the copied caption pastes into most apps that accept plain text, including TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Threads. The line-break trick is most useful for Instagram, which is the strictest about collapsing blank lines.
