Everything runs privately in your browser using the HTML canvas — your photo is never uploaded to a server, and nothing is stored. The tool handles the framing and pixel dimensions (for example 600×600 px at 300 DPI for a US photo). It does not take the picture, remove or replace the existing background, or check biometric rules like expression, shadows, or head tilt, so the background option only fills areas that are actually transparent. The blue crown-and-chin guide is an aid for lining up the head and is not saved into the exported image.

- It produces a photo cropped and sized to the correct dimensions and resolution for the document you pick, which is the technical part most people get wrong. It does not verify biometric rules (expression, lighting, shadows, head angle) or take the photo for you, so review your government's official checklist before submitting.
- Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
- No. All cropping and exporting happens locally in your browser with the canvas API. Your image is never sent to a server and nothing is saved after you close the page.
- What size and resolution does it export?
- Each preset uses the standard millimetre size at 300 DPI — for example US 2×2 in (50.8 mm) exports at 600×600 px and a 35×45 mm photo at about 413×531 px. You can also enter a custom width, height, and DPI.
- Can it change or remove the background?
- No. It fills the background colour you choose only where the image is transparent. Most phone photos are fully opaque, so shoot against a plain white or light wall for a compliant background.
- How do I print several copies cheaply?
- Use the Build print sheet button. It tiles as many correctly-sized photos as fit on 4×6, 5×7, A4, or Letter paper with faint cut guides, so you can print one sheet at a photo kiosk or home printer and cut them out.
- What if my photo looks blurry after exporting?
- That means your upload was smaller than the required pixel size and had to be scaled up. Start from a larger, sharp photo — at least the target pixel dimensions the tool shows — for a clean print.
