About Calorie Calculator

The Calorie Calculator estimates how many calories your body needs each day. It uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation to find your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) from your age, sex, height and weight, then multiplies by an activity level to show maintenance calories plus gentle weight-loss and weight-gain targets. Switch freely between metric and imperial units.

It is completely free with no sign-up, and it runs entirely in your browser. Every calculation happens on your device, so nothing you type is ever uploaded or stored on a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is the calorie calculator free to use?
Yes. It is 100% free with no account, sign-up, or limits. You can run as many calculations as you like.
Is my data uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. All calculations run entirely in your browser on your own device. Your age, weight, height and other inputs are never sent to a server or saved.
How are my daily calories calculated?
It uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation to estimate your BMR (calories burned at rest), then multiplies that by an activity factor from 1.2 (sedentary) to 1.9 (extra active) to estimate your total daily maintenance calories.
What is the difference between BMR and maintenance calories?
BMR is the number of calories your body burns at complete rest to keep basic functions running. Maintenance calories add the energy you burn through daily activity and exercise, so they reflect what you need to keep your current weight.
How much of a calorie deficit do I need to lose weight?
The mild weight-loss target subtracts 500 calories per day from maintenance, roughly a 0.45 kg (1 lb) per week loss. The mild weight-gain target adds 500 calories per day for a similar gradual gain.
Can I use pounds and feet instead of kilograms and centimeters?
Yes. Use the units toggle to switch between metric (cm, kg) and imperial (ft/in, lb). The calculator converts your entries automatically.
